Black History Month
BLACK RESISTANCE
This year’s Black History Month theme acknowledges the efforts made by Black Americans as they confront and seek to dismantle systematic oppression. From chattel slavery to Jim Crow laws to lynchings and police killings, Black people have resisted discrimination and advocated for justice in all areas of society. Through periods of violent and nonviolent protest, Black communities have shown resistance to inequity and intolerance by surviving and thriving despite these systems that seek to control, oppress, and demoralize them. By establishing Black educational and medical institutions, contributing to the arts, and flourishing in sports, Black people have used these contributions to express and advocate for change.
Bayard Rustin
“When an individual is protesting society’s refusal to acknowledge his dignity as a human being, his very act of protest confers dignity on him.”
Coffee Talk with Ebony Webber, MBA
Studio 5 is excited to celebrate the 2023 Black History Month in an informative and engaging Coffee Talk with our guest, Ebony Webber. During her time with us, Ebony will be joined by Studio 5’s own Brian Frantz to discuss what this year’s theme means to her as she reflects on her career journey, including the moments of resistance that have influenced her role as a leader today. At the conclusion of the Coffee Talk, we’ll transition into a Q&A, where our team is invited to learn more from Ebony on how we can best show up as learning consultants or our Thought Partners.
