LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Beacon of Love

The "Beacon of Love" theme symbolizes the enduring spirit and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community in the face of ongoing challenges and attacks on rights. It stands as a powerful statement of love, unity, and solidarity, reflecting San Francisco's role as a global leader in the fight for LGBTQ+ liberation and fundamental human rights. The theme incorporates the pink triangle, historically a symbol of persecution during the Holocaust, which has been reclaimed as a symbol of pride and remembrance. The "Beacon of Love" celebrates the progress made while acknowledging the continuing struggles, serving as a reminder of the community's strength, diversity, and unwavering commitment to equality and inclusion. This theme highlights the importance of coming together to support one another and to stand firm in the fight against hatred and discrimination.

“When you put love out into the world, it travels, and it can touch people and reach people in ways that we never even expected.”

- Laverne Cox
